Songs of Peace, Love, and Legacy — The Music of Jeffrey Charles Hardy

Four Little Rays of Sunshine

© 1969

I tried playing guitar in a few bands, one of which ended about the same time my college ‘drop in’ days were over; just before I committed social suicide, packed up my backpack and headed for Europe. This song is about the band breakup.

Four little rays of sunshine
Got together one day
But all they did was blind each other
So one of them went away

Three little rays of sunshine
Can’t do much together
All they did was crowd each other
So one of them went away

Two little rays of sunshine
Met at the park quite sad
But both of them decided that the very rough weather
Couldn’t be all that bad

One little ray of sunshine
Stretches to reach the sun
He rests assured that the clouds will part
Cause there’s more sunshine
Where he comes from
